Leadership
Decision Making Questions

Here are some key questions to ask before determining your trip:

Where am I being called to?

Make sure you and your group spends time praying in order to hear from the Lord. Make sure you are making your decision on what He places in your hearts rather than a flashy brochure or video. As we work together, we are combing Jesus\' call with the Holy Spirit\'s direction.

Will my mission trip experience be positive?

Two vital ingredients to your trip are the preparation and structure of your trip. Unless you desire a fly by night experience, you must make sure that whomever you are partnering with is preparing your trip months in advance. Taking a planning trip and receiving your trip schedule weeks in advance are two ways to be confident that your trip is organized.

Who am I serving with?

It is important to ask these questions to the organization that you will be working in order to understand the structure of your experience. All mission organizations organizes their trips differently and you want to make sure you are able to work well with your partner. Organization, leadership delegation, ministry intensity and trip logistics are some of the important areas that lead to a prosperous relationship.

What are you receiving for my cost?

We have this question here because we feel that our partnership with you is a two way street. The means that we, as the mission\'s organization, do not expect you to help us further the ministry of us and our partners without receiving anything in return. This is why we have added incentives for you such as adventure planning trips and picture CDs and videos DVDs of your trip. View the tools page to learn more.

Who is leading my trip?

Good leadership will result in a productive and positive trip. Finding out who is directly leading your trip is important. Some organizations use summer volunteers while others use experienced mission directors or pastors. With CIM, you will be serving with those who are serving. This means that you will be leading with missionaries on the front lines.

How effective will my ministry be?

Make sure that you know what you\'re doing before you arrive on your trip! You need to know this to prepare your group and to be effective. You will want to make sure that your outreaches have a strategic plan behind them. This is why CIM produces all schedules months in advance.

Will people be we reached and be followed up with?

We feel that evangelism should lead to discipleship. Be sure that someone is following up with those that you witness to. The people you reach will never grow as a Christian if someone does not disciple them.

How will my students be used?

Make sure that your students are working in their gifting and that you have enough participants for your group. This will result in more productivity in your work week and a better experience for you and your students.

What type of flexibility will my trip have?

While talking to mission organizations, you will to know what you are getting into. First, you want to decide if you want to have a say in what your group is planning, then find out if your potential partner is flexible in working with you.
